Do You Have The Guts To Succeed?

The one common thing all entrepreneurs have is guts. Plain and simple. If that’s too harsh for you I apologize, but it is the absolute truth. As an entrepreneur, you will have to develop a thick skin. For those of you that take things literally, what I mean is you need a certain attitude. You can’t worry about what anyone else thinks, you just have to go out and get it done.
How do you develop that? You have to get out there and be uncomfortable. You have to do things that other people aren’t willing to do.
Here are some things that can help you determine if you have this ability. You need to think about and do these on a regular basis:
  • You must use the G.O.Y.A theory: Every single day – If it is to be it’s up to me is an entrepreneur’s motto. So we have to “Get Up Off Our Assess” (or Anatomy if you like that better) and make stuff happen!
  • You Have To Be Bad Before You Can Be Good: You will make mistakes, believe me, I have made my share, but I promise you that you will ultimately get better. Just keep going, don’t stop. Develop that muscle and don’t even pause when you make a mistake just keep going.
  • Do The Things You Fear The Most: You will have to get out there and connect with people. You will have to make phone calls and follow-up calls. We have to do those things because in the long run it is what is going to help our business grow.
  • Be A Leader: A true leader is acting like one when nobody else is following you yet. Walk, talk and act like the person you want to become.
  • Face Your Challenges: We all have things that are thrown at us that seem insurmountable at times. It is how you react to those challenges that show what you are made of. The more challenged you are, the more you need to welcome that distraction and keep going.
  • StayPositive – When everything is going wrong around you and you feel like nothing is ever going to happen you must stay focused. Nobody will every follow a negative cry baby. It is completely within your power to stay positive when people are around you and even when they are not.

All of us have the choice to work through our obstacles and grow in the process, or give up and let it beat you. When you force yourself to push through it, you become stronger. When you can do this, you have something special that separate’s you from the pack.

Your passion will cause you to persevere and give you the stamina and nerve you need to keep on going.

Recruiting 101: “You’re One Recruit Away From An Explosion”

recruitmentlightbulb

I have been in the financial industry in a direct selling company for almost two decades. One of the things I come across when I am recruiting reps and doing the job skills testing to expand my business is that direct sales is often misunderstood. What I want is for people to understand what direct sales really is. Instead of traditional retail outlets or online marketplaces, direct selling maintains a sales force of millions of committed independent entrepreneurs.

These small business owners affiliate with a direct selling company and receive commissions on sales, but work for themselves. Independent direct sellers set their own hours and create their own marketing plans. They determine whether to build a sales team and how to go about mentoring them. Also, how to serve their customers – whether in their homes, online, or at parties with family and friends. This all depends upon the type of company it is. I am in the financial industry so doing an in home party or a meeting to recruit new associate’s wouldn’t be in my home or the home of friends – for obvious reasons.

Aside from the fact that you can start in a network marketing company on a part-time basis while you learn and work from home, you have the ability to make unlimited residual income. The way that you do that is to go out and recruit some awesome people and duplicate yourself over and over. To me, the most attractive part of the business was the ability to recruit and build a team of people I can teach to make a six figure income and run their own business. I would get to override this team and receive residual income forever. The concept is to build a team that becomes self-sufficient and goes on to run their own office, it is like opening multiple franchise outlets. The huge difference is that the average franchise requires a large sum of money to get started. Most direct sales companies require a minimal out-of-pocket expense to get started.

So why not work smarter not harder? One of the best ways to achieve multilevel marketing success is to share the products and business opportunity with other people.

Here are a few tips that will help you to get out there and recruit and build your team:

Sucess In A dress “Sales Tip #7”

ETTWomen's 360 2015 Retreat: Lynette Barbieri

I have the privilege of training new associates in my financial sales business. Obviously, because I’ve been in sales for a long time, I have tips I like to share with my new associates that have worked for me over the years.

But duplicating myself is key in the particular business I am in. Therefore, I share with my new associates tried and true sales tips on a weekly and monthly basis. I do this over and over again because they’ve served as the foundation of me being successful in sales.

The other day I had a conversation with several new associates and one of them asked me to give them one sales tip I could share that has helped me the most. I would like to share it with all of you now here:

What you say to your client is not the key to a successful meeting. Of course what you say is important, but the most important part of your sales presentation (I hate the word pitch) is what they heard and how they process the information you shared with them.

You could think you were smooth, you were clear and that they are the luckiest people on the planet for getting to hear you, and then, the unthinkable happens: They want to think about it!

So what happened? You of course think over and over about what you said, what they said, how you answered the question/s they had and you spend the rest of the night replaying the whole scenario in your mind!

Instead of needless stress and worry, what I have found to be the most helpful is listening to yourself as if you were the customer. Simple right? And how do you do that? Tape your presentation, even better… record yourself on video. Then, ask yourself a few questions as you are listening. Did what you say make you excited to learn more? If you were the potential client, would you have understood clearly what you presented? Would you buy from you based on how you sounded, looked, and explained your product?

Sometimes the answer is no and that’s o.k. Don’t beat yourself up about it but practice. Keep practicing until you can answer yes to those questions; inspect and analyze what you expect!

“Success In a dress” Sales Tip #6

10.10.2014-103

Have you ever heard the expression “Use your God-given talents.” Did you ever really think about that when it was being said to someone or to you? I have actually said to my daughter when we are arguing, “You should be a lawyer someday. God gave you some talent to argue and debate!”

Well, I believe as women almost every one of us can capitalize in sales by using our God given talents -which I believe are empathy & compassion!

When a man sells, they tend to explain things logically: They discuss why they need it, how much it cost and  why it’s the best product or service out there. They are then ready to get to the point and lead to the close.

Believe me, I have been on many training appointments over the years training men, and no matter how many times I would say to open with the question, it usually didn’t happen on it’s own. I basically had to throw it in and interrupt every time.

Are they bad salesmen? Not at all! They just aren’t thinking about “feelings.”  It isn’t generally in their genetic makeup.  Women show empathy and concern by asking a lot of questions that lead to an emotional decision as to why they need that product or service -and this can be done just by using our God given talent! We are natural born sales people! That’s right: You, me and every woman reading this… if you want to be!

The absolute best tip I can give you this week is to use your God given talents and exercise them. Ask questions that lead to emotional decisions such as, “How does the thought of owning that product make you feel?”; “How would you feel if we established a plan that actually will allow you to retire at 62 instead of 65?”; “What would you do differently if you had that product?”; “Where would you travel if you retire when you are that much younger?”

Help your client feel and visualize owning your product or service.

The reason people are in the positions they are in today is because they get wrapped up in the daily grind and forget their child-like enthusiasm. You have to help them feel that again and show them why your product or service can help lead them to that goal -whatever their goal may be.

Any woman who taps into this gift, the gift we were born with, will be a successful natural sales woman!
